When you book a vacation rental through Airbnb or Vrbo, the platform adds a guest service fee on top of the nightly rate, cleaning fee, and taxes. It's often in the range of a few hundred dollars on a multi-night group stay. That money doesn't go to the home, the cleaning team, or the host — it's the platform's cut for listing the property.
Booking here removes that line item. The nightly rate, the cleaning fee, and the taxes are the same; the platform fee simply isn't there.
